This greenway has been badly damaged by off-road motorbikes. It has survived for thousands of years, and most of this damage has occured in the last 10 years.

How badly damaged so we want these green lanes to become before we do something about this?

And finally........this is one of the undescribable joys of walking in the hills.

This greenway has been badly damaged by off-road motorbikes. It has survived for thousands of years, and most of this damage has occured in the last 10 years.
Walking in the uplands of the Isle of Man is as good an experience as walking in any of the best regions in Britain. The wild open spaces in the hills lifts the spirit and makes you feel alive. What detracts from the experience is walking along a footpath or a green lane that has been severely damaged by wheeled traffic. Many green lanes are now suffering irrepairable damage because of inappropriate use by off-road bikes. Most of this damage has happened in the last 10 years. If these grassy lanes are to survive, we need to put in place a means of repairing them and stop the damage that is currently happening.
